  • Loud, unpredictable bangs

  • Bright flashes

  • Vibrations and smells

  • Dogs don’t understand the cause, so they assume danger

How to Help Your Dog During Fireworks

1. Create a safe space

  • A quiet interior room

  • Blankets, toys, familiar smells

  • You can play white noise, calm music, or a fan

2. Close windows & curtains

  • Reduces sound

  • Blocks bright flashes

3. Stay calm and act normal

  • Dogs read your body language

  • Don’t overly fuss — just be present and relaxed

4. Use calming tools

  • Thundershirts

  • Calming treats (ask your vet)

  • Pheromone diffusers like Adaptil

5. Distract with activities

  • Puzzle toys

  • Chews

  • Training games

6. For severe anxiety

  • Talk to a veterinarian about medications

  • Desensitization training (gradually exposing your dog to recorded firework sounds over weeks)
